General Info

  • Bonuses: 7.5% Bonus to Hybrid Turret tracking speed per level and 10% Bonus to Drone tracking speed and hitpoints per level.

The Tristan is a solid all-round ship, and the only frigate that can field a full flight of small drones. Because our Hydra fleet moves very fast, there is high probability that you will lose/forget to grab your drones before we warp off. Because of this, we do recommend fitting guns in your high slots so you can still dish out some damage even if your drones got left behind by a sudden cold-warp by the FC. Drones V is HIGHLY recommended if you are flying this ship.

Tristan pilots should have a flight or two of EC-300 drones in the class's staging system, on the off chance the FC decides he'd rather you use jamming drones instead of damage drones. This won't happen often, but it is a possibility. If you don't have electronic warfare drones trained, don't worry about it.

Additional Notes

You should carry with you:

  • A spare set of drones (5 drones) in your cargo hold. This way, should your drones get left behind after a battle, you'll be able to reload your drone bay the next time we have a chance to dock up.
  • 500 units of short-range ammo
  • 500 units of longer-range ammo
  • Scripts for any electronic warfare modules that need them

Hobgoblin I x5

This is a T2 variant, which will require more advanced skills. For the T2 version, we fit it out with the Trinity (scram/web/ab), slightly larger guns, an overdrive because it needs a bit of speed, and since it has leftover CPU, small remote armor repper for after the fight to patch up the remnants of the fleet. While this fit has overall lower DPS than the T1 variant, it is less dependent upon its drones for DPS, allowing it to still provide reasonable DPS even if the drones are left behind.

Alumni Only: The following suggested fit is for Alumni ONLY. In this fit, we swap out the afterburner for a microwarp drive. This ship makes a good "chaser tackle" ship, pulsing the microwarp drive to get into scram/web range then holding down the target while it dies. Students should NOT use this fit, as microwarpdrive = death until you are familiar with evading bombs and smart-bombing battleships.
