Introduction

The capacitor is the heart of your ship. Energy from your capacitor powers all modules you have equipped, including weapons, electronic warfare, speed, and tanking modules. Your ship's capacitor holds a certain quantity of energy that is constantly recharging. Player skills modify capacitor quantity, recharge rate, and how much energy is used by your various modules.

Skills that directly affect your capacitor

  • Energy Management: 5% bonus to capacitor capacity per skill level
  • Energy Systems Operation: 5% reduction in capacitor recharge time per skill level
  • Certain Ship Bonuses: ship bonuses may alter your capacitor quantity or recharge rate

Skills that indirectly affect your capacitor include:

  • Controlled Bursts: 5% reduction in capacitor need of weapon turrets per skill level
  • Electronic Warfare: 5% less capacitor need for ECM and ECM Burst systems per skill level
  • Propulsion Jamming: 5% Reduction to warp scrambler and stasis web capacitor need per skill level
  • Sensor Linking: 5% less capacitor need for sensor link per skill level
  • Target Painting: 5% less capacitor need for target painters per skill level
  • Weapon Disruption: 5% less capacitor need for weapon disruptors per skill level
  • Energy Emission Systems: 5% reduced capacitor need of energy emission weapons per skill level
  • Shield Compensation: 2% less capacitor need for shield boosters per skill level
  • Remote Armor Repair Systems: 5% reduced capacitor need for remote armor repair system modules per skill level
  • Remote Hull Repair Systems: 5% reduced capacitor need for remote hull repair system modules per skill level
  • Fuel Conservation: 10% reduction in afterburner capacitor needs per skill level
  • High Speed Maneuvering: 5% reduction in MicroWarpdrive capacitor usage per skill level
  • Warp Drive Operation: each skill level reduces the capacitor need of initiating warp by 10%

Modules that affect your capacitor

Capacitor Recharger +15% to recharge rate of capacitor, mid-slot module Capacitor Power Relay +20% to recharge rate of capacitor, low-slot module Power Diagnostic System I +7.5% to capacitor recharge rate, +4% to capacitor's capacitance, low-slot module Capacitor Battery increases capacitor's total capacity by set amount of units thus also increasing its recharge rate Capacitor Booster uses cap booster charges to inject energy into capacitor

Recharge Rate

Capacitor's recharge rate is maximum when it is at about 30%. Cap recharge rate = Maxcap * 2 * 5 * sqrt [(1-cap%)^2-(1-cap%)^4] Cap = Maxcap * { 1 - 1/[0.5*cosh(5*time/caprechargetime)] }
