General Info

Bonuses: 5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret damage and 7.5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking speed per skill level; 80% reduction in Propulsion Jamming systems activation cost.

The Slasher is very fast, making it well suited to speed-tanking even when only fit with an Afterburner. It has four mid-slots, creating a lot of flexibility in fitting - you can even fit a small shield tank if you wanted to. Like most of the Attack Frigates, the Slasher works very well at both short and long ranges. Because of the nature of the Hydra fleet, we recommend fitting artillery to take advantage of the Slasher's bonuses while staying out of range of the many smart-bombing battleships that are thrown at our fleet during the PVP-BASIC class.

The Slasher is pretty tight on power grid, so in addition to the recommended basic skills listed in the class reading material, you will need to train Engineering to level 5 and Projectile Weapon Rigging to level 2 in order to use the fits listed below. If you don't have these skills trained to this level, drop the suggested rigs from the fits and everything else will fit.

Remember that you should bring a range of EWAR modules, since we may ask you to change them when we set up the fleet. For the full list of modules to bring, see Recommended Modules for PVP-Frigspec.

Additional Notes

You should carry with you:

  • 1000 units of small Phased Plasma.
  • Optionally, you may also want to carry a single load or two of a longer-range ammunition, such as Titanium Sabot (or Tremor if fitting T2 guns), for times when you don't have time to get in range of the target with Phased Plasma.
  • Carry both kinds of scripts for any electronic warfare modules that need them

Example EFT Fittings

This is a recommended all-T1 fitting. In order to fit the suggested rigs, you will need Engineering 5 and Projectile Weapon Rigging 2 in addition to our recommended minimum skills. If you don't have these skills trained and/or find yourself running out of power grid, drop one or both of the rigs because these rigs will increase your turret's power grid usage. If you haven't trained rigging skills, you can do without the suggested rigs.

With just the basic minimum recommended skills, this fit has an optimal of 5.6km, which means you will be flying in your falloff (orbiting around 6+km) when we are attacking smart-bombing ships.

Alumni Only: The following suggested fits are for Alumni ONLY.

In this fit, we swap out the afterburner for a microwarp drive, and both tracks and damps. Alternatively, you could drop one of the ewar modules and fit a Small Shield Extender II for a small tank. You would fly this almost like it was an interceptor, pulsing the microwarp drive to get into point range then holding down the target while it dies. Carry some Tremor with you - it will give you an optimal of 22km (plus 11km falloff) and use it when you are at long range. Students should NOT use this fit, as microwarpdrive = death until you are familiar with evading bombs and smart-bombing battleships.

The Slasher can also fill the role of "heavy tackler" quite nicely. The first version is a dual prop, scram only version that speed tanks very well. The NOS is the best defense against a neut, and while 125mm Autocannons have the very little range, they'll very effectively track drones.

This second version of the "heavy tackler" wields a scram/web. It's a little easier to fit, can use slightly larger guns, and is just as fast....
