'''Mineral Compression'''
Item volumes are not all created equal in Eve In real life you would expect if you build an item with 10 bricks 1" x 1" x 1" you would come up with something 2" x 5" x 1' or some thing similar In Eve you can get something 100" x 100" x 1 or something .5"x .5" x 1"
This has lead to an interesting idea in the relocation of minerals
Logistics is key in 0.0 without a strong logistics backbone your pilots will be without ships, and without ships your not going to be in 0.0 long.
The basic idea behind mineral compression is you have 1,000,000,m³ of minerals . moving them to 0.0 would be very dangerous and require multiple trips in a slow defenseless freighter.
What if you can build certain items that require considerably less space than their unfinished build materials, transport them to 0.0 and then refine them to get back your minerals?
These are just a few of the items that are useful for mineral compression (CCP has nerfed mineral compression several times but it will continue until they introduce a acceptable logistical alternative.

ideal ME is from Eve Material Level Calculator (perfect ME) usually 90 days in a POS will give you very very little waste.
Example 800mm Repeating Artillery I ME ME 341 PE 10 POS time 30 Days Waste per unit 139.97 isk
Purgatory: best overall compression - very popular
800mm Repeating Art - Excellent for cruiser build programs
Doom: good ratio for moving trit/pye if you already have other minerals.
Plates: best used in tandem with torps for more mex.
100MN MWD: contains minerals in roughly the ratio required for BS / capital ship production.
Passive targeters - 5:1 compression on tritanium making them great for bringing trit in/out of low or null sec. With freighter 4 you can fit about 450m units of tritanium in a freighter.
small armor repairers -excellent Pyrite compression tractor beams - cheap bpos that are easy to research and always useful Heavy shield maintenance bots ( fit in carrier's huge drone bay and still leave room in hangar \ hold)
ammo (especially capital torps)( can be placed inside industrial ships, and then transported in carriers ship maintenance bay.
Purgatory Torpedo I - On reprocessing, these provide 57.3% trit, 42.2% pye and 0.5% high ends at a 20.8:1 compression ratio
Capital modules (BPCs are cheap and they tend to have a good mix of minerals
