==Agony 2.0 Mentoring Program==

The Agony mentoring program aims to ensure that every new joiner to the corporation has a more experienced pilot from within their own squadron to act as their guide into how Agony Unleashed operates and how to effectively kill other ships in PvP. This relationship will formally remain until the new recruit has attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

When a new application is accepted by an Agony Director, the new recruit will be assigned to a Squadron based on their time of play. At this stage they will then be assigned to a mentor within that squadron by the Squadron Admiral.

===Chain of Command===

Mentors have a responsibility to keep their Flight leaders appraised of their mentees progress. They will have a lot of information pertinent to promotion and so should keep the SA up to date.
+

+
Mentors should, in the first instance, contact their Flight Leaders with any questions or problems.

+
Captains should also give feedback at regular intervals to the coordinator to ensure a consistent approach to mentoring across Agony Unleashed.

===Hints and tips on mentoring===
+
# When ingame, have a separate convo window open with your mentee. Can be useful for answering questions without disturbing voice comms in a Wolfpack or getting lost in general corp chat.
+
# Get a copy of your mentees skills using the Eve-Online character sheet or something like Evemon (can write skills info + training plan in text, html or xml). This will help you make some sensible suggestions on how to improve the mentees skills and setup a good training plan.
+
# When funds and skills allow,
+
## help your mentee setup a jump clone and not to lose any implants. Teach them what happens to your learning speed if you loose your implants.
+
## help them make the trip and get through the gate camps. Assist them in creating the first couple of bookmarks.
+
# If you have more than one mentee, take them all in space, teach them and fly with them a lot. Make some kills if you can - teach them how they should use coms in combats, how to react in some situations, etc. It's easier for them, at least at the beginning to be in a small gang and ask questions, to be open minded and open mouthed.

Being a Mentor

The Agony mentoring program aims to ensure that every new joiner to the corporation has a more experienced pilot from within their own squadron to act as their guide during their first few months in the corporation. Mentors will be expected to guide the Trial member until they are promoted to Core.

The most effective mentors are those who want to do the job voluntarily. As such, there are no requirements to be a mentor other than being a Core member and voluteering for this job. If you want to be a mentor, simply volunteer to be such when you see a new applicant taken into corporation or alternatively let the Mentor Coordinator of your squadron know that you are looking for mentees.

Mentor Responsibilities

Mentors have a number of responsibilities which are outlined below. However, the single most important responsibility is to take the time to make the new joiners feel an integral part of the Agony corporation. All mentors should make sure that they cover the following aspects with their mentee asap.

  1. Make sure that the mentee gets Vent and Forum access. Recruiters should request these things for their recruits, but in case something goes wrong double check that the recruit indeed has everything set up. Help mentee setup Vent account including ticker and phonetic.
  2. Make contact with a newly assigned mentee as soon as possible. Best way to do this is to schedule a one-on-one interview over Ventrilo. Figure out the best way to keep in touch and keep the contact regular.
  3. Ask the recruit about their previous pvp experience as well as their goals and plans for the future. What roles would they like to try out in gangs? What aspects of game play would they like to participate in within Agony?
  4. Explain to mentee what exactly we are looking for during trial period that will help them get promoted. Go over the opportunities that Agony offers
  5. Encourage mentee to take active roles in gangs. Explain to mentee that he or she can practice scouting, tackling, and reporting during Agony's decentalized gangs.
  6. Encourage mentee to strive to achieve specialization and expertise in a few pvp roles that he or she prefers.
  7. Optional: For inexperienced pilots you can offer to do a character sheet evaluation. If mentee agrees to this ask them for their character character sheet and advise him or her on how to progress best towards his pvp specialization.
  8. Show mentee Agony's wiki and how to navigate around it.
  9. Ensure that mentee knows about certifications, why we have them and which ones are available. Help mentee go over the certs.
  10. Ensure mentee signs up for remaining PVP-U classes which he or she hasn't attended yet.
  11. Encourage mentee to actively participate on Vent and in corp activities.
  12. Briefly go over Agony's corporate structure and organization, our Rules of Engagement, and how hangar access works.
  13. If mentee needs to make ISK, offer advice on what are the best ways of doing so with Agony.
  14. Offer advice on ship setups.
  15. Offer advice on how to make bookmarks.
