This document is intended to help you make sure that you've done everything you need to do to get ready for your BASIC class. You don't have to do things in this order, but following the suggested order should minimize the amount of time you spend on preparation.

- 4 Prepare your Clones
- 5 Prepare your EVE Client
- 6 Connect to the Teamspeak 3 server
Make sure you have correctly enrolled in the class and that you know:
- When the class is scheduled to take place.
- Where the staging system is.
- That your payment has been made, either by yourself, or through a corporate account on your behalf.
Check your skills
Ensure that you have trained the required prerequisite skills.
Buy your ships and fittings
The recommended ship types and fittings will be detailed in the class enrollment thread on the Agony forums. Please follow these recommendation closely, as failing to do so might result in you having trouble keeping up with the fleet or hitting your targets. (NOTE: Alumni may choose a ship that fits the fleet concept at their own discretion)
We recommend you bring at least 2-3 ships to the staging system. Remember to buy modules, ammo and scripts as well.
Gather everything at the system specified in enrollment post
This system changes from time to time - see your enrollment thread to find out where the class will start. There may be several stations in the staging system. Make sure you pick the right one.
Depending on where the class is held, your wallet balance and your available time, you may either want to buy your ships in a market hub or source them locally. Check the local market and see if what you need is available at an acceptable price. If this is not the case you may have to do your shopping in Jita, Amarr or one of the other market hubs.
If you end up buying your ships and mods far away from the staging system there are several options available for getting your equipment to the staging system. What you should choose will depend on your wallet and the time you are willing to spend on logistics:
- Fly the fitted ships one by one from the market hub to the staging system. This is the cheapest, but most time consuming option as you will have to do several round trips.
- Load the ships and fittings into an industrial ship and haul them to the staging system. This is also a cheap option but relies on you owning and being able to pilot an industrial ship.
- Use a freighter service like Red Frog. A very convenient solution, but quite an expensive one. However, if you're not willing to spend the time moving your own stuff, and you're able to pay for it, this may be the best option for you. If you do choose a shipping service, make sure to buy your equipment early, to allow for the courier contracts to complete in time.
Fit out your ships and insure them
Set up your ships and make sure all your modules are online. Remember to include 3 or 4 reloads of ammo in cargo for each ship.
It can be a good idea to insure the ships as well, but this is completely up to you.
Prepare your Clones
Check the enrollment post to see which system the class is meeting at. DO set your medical clone to this system, so that if you get podded you will "wake up" in the class station and not half way across New Eden. This makes it much easier and faster for you to reship and rejoin the fleet after a podding.
You might want to have a jump clone at that system before the start of the class. Please read the Jump Clones article for more information. If you do set up a jump clone at the class staging station, be sure that your regular clone (the one with the implants, if any) is in some other station. This avoids confusion and accidental clone-loss that can result if two jump clones end up in the same place.
You will more than likely loose ships and pods during the class, so we encourage the use of cheap or empty clones.

Connect to the "Agony Public" channel
Fleet invitations are handled through the in-game chat channel "Agony Public". To join this channel:
- Click the speech bubble icon in the top right of any chat window. This will open the "Join Channel" window
- Type in "Agony Public"
- Click 'Join'
Configure your graphics settings and your overview
Follow the configuration instructions below to set up your client for PvP. Depending on your computer turning off most effects can really help a lot with lag and client crashes. Equally important is setting up your overview to hide everything but the essentials. Cluttered overviews lead to friendly-fire incidents and unnecessary lag.

Read the article and follow the instructions to connect to our TS3 server. NOTE: If you don't have a microphone, you still need to connect to TS so you can listen to the class. There is no point in attending if you can't hear the instructor.
